On the beach
Protaras Beach, Pernera Beach and Fig Tree Bay are all sandy with safe, shallow water and Fig Tree Bay has good-value water sports and a few snacks bars on the beach.

Out and about
Protaras is part of the Famagusta district, which is also known as ,,the golden coast”. It is famous for its long sandy beaches and famous windmills.
Situated north-west is Cape Greco, it is an isolated cove blessed with white sand and Caribbean water. In this area behind Protaras lie many small villages.
Famagusta lies north of Protaras. This part of the island has the best beaches and they are long. Famagusta is now called the ghost town after the seizure by the Turkish in 1974. The Old Town of Famagusta has plenty of historical buildings, some dating back to the 13th century. The New Town, since 1974 has been a ghost town. You can see the New Town through binoculars, either from the viewing platform in Deryneia, near Ayia Napa.

After dark
Bars in this resort include some playing live music and karaoke. Although, only 2 discos (Boogies and Q club) in the resort, the bars stay open fairly late. "
