"The English lessons at elementary schools start in the third class and there are three compulsory lessons of English per week. The main aim is to provide the pupils with a means of communication that the pupils can use in different parts of world and communicate via it and understand other people. It is really important to develop the pupils’ skill to use the language in real life situations. Another important thing is that the pupils are lead towards individual learning. To the individual learning helps the process of self-evaluation and self-development with its planning and observation. 3.3.2. Content definition of the subject English language
The upper level of elementary schools is concerned mainly with the developments of pupils’ communicative skills and their writing and speaking abilities. The teachers use different materials to help the pupils in acquiring the English language and the pupils come more into contact with the information of English speaking countries. There is an emphasis put on the usage of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) so the pupils can find more information about the English speaking countries and also develop their language skills. (Doporucene ucebni osnovy predmetu CJL, AJ a M pro zakladni skolu, rvp.cz, 2011, p. AJ 11) The usage of ICT such as computers during lessons is great and the pupils love it. However, it is important to check that the pupils really work on the given theme and are not playing different games etc. because computers and others can lure pupils’ attention."
