"Britain’s official title is The United Kingdom Of Great Britain And Northern Ireland. It is a constitutional monarchy. The head of the kingdom is King or Queen, but the real political power is in the hands of the Prime Minister. In Britain exist the two most important political parties, Labour Party and the Conservative Party. Britain consists of four parts: England (its capital is London), Scotland (Edinburgh), Wales (Cardiff), and Northern Ireland (Belfast).
The islands, which belong to the United Kingdom, are the Channel Island, the Isle of Wight, the Isle of Man, the Hebrides, the Shetlands and the Orkneys. The surface of Great Britain is formed by lowlands (Green Country, Black Country and Backbone of England) and by highlands (the Cheviot Hills, the Grampians Highland and Northern Highland). Rivers in Britain are rich in water but rather short. The longest rivers are the Severn and the Thames in England and the Clyde in Scotland.
Britain was the first industrial country in the world. Its traditional industries are textile industry, coal mining, metallurgy and shipbuilding. Other important industry are engineering, chemical industry, electronics and so one. Britain is the world’s fourth largest exporter of manufactured goods, but the most important exports are the services. Agriculture is very effective and highly mechanized. Livestock productions are more important than the production of crops."
