Increasingly restaurants in Britain are non-smoking. Wine in restaurant is very expensive so if you like water you can drink tap wather, which is safe to drink and you shouldn´t be charged for it.
Some smaller food outlets do not allow payment by credit card so you should always check, if you have enough money. In expensive restaurants, there can be a service charge included in the bill.
